Mr. Bennett is Linden High Schools Instrumental Music and Choir Director, since teaching bands at Linden Middle School in late 2012. Prior to teaching in Linden, he taught 6th grade band and music appreciation for Potter's House Schools, elementary music and middle school choir for Godfrey Lee Public School, and elementary music and an adult marimba ensemble for San Juan Diego Academy, all located in the Grand Rapids area.
Mr. Bennett received his bachelors of music education degree - instrumental music - as well as receiving a minor in American Sign Language from Central Michigan University in 2010, graduating cum laude. While at CMU, he was a member of the Chippewa Marching Band, Jazz Lab I, The Symphonic Wind Ensemble. He received Honorable Mention in the Patricia Nixon Memorial Woodwind Scholarship Competition, and both runner-up/honorable mention at the MTNA Chamber Music Performance competitions with the Paragon Saxophone Quartet. He has performed as a sit-in musician with the Midland Symphony Orchestra and as a clinician across the state with the Diversions Saxophone Quartet. Mr. Bennett is also very active in marching band. He has worked with marching bands in Byron Center, Godwin Heights, Otsego, Manton and Clio. He has written drill for the Clio marching band and has been invited as a guest artist and clinician across the state. Mr. Bennett is married and has two adorable daughters! |
