About the Program
This is the premier musical ensemble at Linden High School. Students are selected to be in this ensemble through an audition process determined by the director. Because there may be limited openings in each section, it can be very competitive to make it into this group.
The wind ensemble plays college level literature and is for the student who is fluent as both an instrumentalist and a musician. Students should know all major scales, two octave chromatic scales, participate in solo and ensemble, and most students in this group seek private instruction from a professional. The rigor in which music is learned is quite impressive, and students are expected to perform at the highest level possible. Enrollment in this group is not limited to a particular grade level. However, each student is expected to practice their part and be able to perform it at a high level of achievement. Younger students who have had private instruction usually do well in this course.
